Little Big Planet 2 Level

We have created an educational level using the PlayStation3 game Little Big Planet 2, that is being used by HASTAC to engage young learners in the USA.
The level, A Day in the Life of a Computer, aims to teach key Computer Science concepts such as binary code, logic and programming, in a fun, easy to understand and engaging way.
The project is part of the 2010 Digital Media and Learning Competition as Gemixin were one of the winners in the Game Changers category (the only UK and non US winners), which resulted in us being awarded funding to develop the level. The intention of the competition is to promote “participatory” learning, which operates under the notion that individuals, specifically young ones, learn best through sharing and involvement. The competition is administered by the virtual network of learning institutions, HASTAC, and is part of the Obama Administration’s Educate to Innovate initiative.
