Gemixin created the official mobile app for the London 2012 Olympic Games in Coventry. The project was run by Coventry City Council and we were chosen as the sole developers for the app. Gemixin handled all design, prototyping, user testing, development and deployment for the project in-house.
The app was developed for 7 different mobile platforms!
- iOS (iPhone and iPad) *
- Android (2.1 and above)
- Bada (Samsung Wave, Wave II and Wave 3 phones)
- BlackberryOS (OS5.0+)
- HP WebOS
- Windows Phone (7.5+)
- Symbian (WRT compatible phones)
* A separate native version of the app (using native interface elements but with the same content and structure) was created for iOS to meet App Store approval. There was also a web app for iOS that was identical to the other platforms and allowed users who have devices running an older version of iOS to access the app.
It was the ultimate guide to Coventry during the Olympic Games and featured all the latest news and results for the football events being held at the City of Coventry Stadium along with a whole host of information about the city for visitors.
Graham Simpson, Business Sector Growth Manager, Coventry City Council said:
“Gemixin successfully bid to supply a low cost multi platform application designed for smart phones and tablets. Launched in March 2012 the app informs visitors, the general public and people overseas about the city of Coventry and about Olympic events taking place in the City during the London 2012 Olympic Games. Gemixin proved particularly adept at accommodating changes and additions throughout the design and development phase. The resultant app is simple to use yet technically capable. Working with Managing Director Gemma McLean is a delightful and rewarding experience.”
